The Chicago Blackhawks defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning at the United Center 2-0 to earn their third Stanley Cup in 6 years. Duncan Keith was the proud recipient of the 2015 Conn Smythe Most Valuable Player Award, NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman was met with jeers and boos while declaring this a “dynasty” for the Hawks. Hawks Goaltender Corey Crawford, who didn’t allow a third-period goal in the last three games of the series and gave up only two total goals in those games, tied Tony Esposito for Most Playoff Wins In Franchise History at 45.

It was later reported that Tampa Bay Goaltender Ben Bishop olayed tonight with a torn groin, an injury he sustained during Game 2, and Lightning’s leading goal scorer Tyler Johnson played with a broken wrist.

After a day marred with tornado sirens, hard rains, and heavy flooding that delayed the award presentation a bit it didn’t stop Lord Stanley from arriving and making his presence known to the awaiting crowd of 22K fans at the Madhouse On Madison.

I would like to close this out by taking a moment to say my thoughts are with Stan Mikita and his family, who earlier today was reported as battling “supposed dementia”. If you’ve ever witnessed an older relative dealing with an affliction such as this it resonates with you. Hopefully he was able to enjoy this win tonight as well.
